Joanna’s career has taken her from the classroom to leadership roles in education and within the technology industry. She served as Manager of Strategic Initiatives at Apple Computer, Inc., where she worked closely with state leaders to address the digital divide. In addition to her work in technology, Joanna’s experience includes serving as a mayor and earning a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Throughout her varied career in policy and technology, she has always remained dedicated to supporting students.

Joanna’s commitment to education is evident in her hands-on work with young people. She has made a difference as a Graduation Coach, helping at-risk youth achieve graduation on time, and educator, training teachers from around the world. Her lifelong mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves a chance to shine. The stories she writes are inspired by her experiences with the children she has taught, coached, and advocated for, as well as by the inspiration she draws from her own grandchildren. These relationships continue to guide her both as an educator and as an author.
